Audible Weed Walk – Ep.83 “#OnlyOneEarth – Wild Food and Fairness – part 3”

50 years have passed since the first conference on Human Environment at Stockholm marking the beginning of environmental diplomacy.  As a follow up of that conference, each year since 1974 World Environment Day is observed on 5 June. Its mission simply says : “In the universe there are billions of galaxies/In our galaxy are billions of planets/But there is Only One Earth./Let’s take care of it. With this message it calls for Transformative Changes to make it happen. Fifty years later this year the conference goes back to Stockholm. As we speak there are meetings and discussions on trying to tackle ecology, environment, climate change for the planet – which is for us. But in actuality what these multitude of celebrations does to us beyond a social media post, some tree planting, may be a seminar to attend that is topical and then it is back to the usual. The conditions, policies, daily habits that got us in this state where water, soil, air, living beings are all are gasping for help. We are too. Sitting in the city of integral yoga I cannot think of a better reminder for the need to transform ourselves, myself, in order to bring consciousness and discernment in our daily operations. Taking that cue I address the third part of the Wild Food and Fairness topic. Since we live in a connected world, how we operate in our daily lives – even if we consider ourselves away from anything natural – affects us all. I give examples of tree social media favorites about selling and highlighting products projected as unique, green, conscious but are they? I talk a bit about coffee and thought it would be just fair to give you a source of making a coffee like drink from your backyard. Try it and let me know.
