Do you know what Termitomyces is? I found some not far from my door – in my regular stroll after the rain, when everything is still green, wet, and fresh. Well you guessed it right – it has something to do with termites but only in the form of the amazing symbiosis it has formed. Together they are forest detritus waste managers working diligently among us but we hardly notice. Termitomyces are edible – yes, to humans. Turns out that in the wetter western coast – it is more prevalent. A seasonal delicacy in Goa – where its popularity is threatening its existence – and increasingly taking the nutritious food away from the plates of the tribal people.
