Audible Weed Walk – Ep.71 “Birthday week – weedy celebration… and this and that!”

Birthday week: weedy celebration… and this and that! : There are many reasons one hesitates to eat wild uncultivated greens. Lack of knowledge/ recognition, familiarity, where to acquire, how to cook etc. on top of the social construct we grow up with – where such plants are considered inferior. The truth is, while we may not know or are familiar with the wild weedy greens, when edible, are nutritious and packed with essential micronutrients. I have been wondering for some time – how to bring wild weedy food in a light and joyful way to people – just like the Edible Weed Book brings the knowledge. I have been thinking but the time was not right. But when Harishini and her team at Solar Kitchen approached me for coordinating a dinner there during the birthday week – it was perfect, the right season, plenty of greens and local produce and the perfect and special week. So, it will be a local, seasonal wild weedy dinner, to feel full, but not too heavy. I am honored and excited for the opportunity!
