Livley Up Your Earth – Duo Beretiko played east European folk songs
Francois and Shalini have been playing together for several years. As a couple in real life and on the stage, they formed the duet ‘Beretiko’, a play on the word Rebetiko, a musical genre which designates urban Greek music from the beginning of the 20th century. Their music is the result of their travels through Europe and the exchanges they are still having with musicians (one of them offered a magical Romanian song that was played during the performance).
Their music is full of color, it could feel melancholic at times and very much joyful at others, but always true – seeking the esthetic beauty we all have inside us and exemplified by their duo.
