Savitri Book 7, Canto 2, Part 2
Savitri is having a dream which discloses the cosmic past. She has been guided by the great deathless Voice to seek for her soul, and to empty her mind and let her heart’s throbs beat in God. The dream has already revealed the origins and beginnings of world fate. Now the dream discloses what the endlessly-active mind is like when the conscious soul stays within and is absent from the mind’s workings. Then she sees the vital being, also devoid of the presence of the soul, and she sees what harm lower vital energies can do when the soul is absent. “Man’s house of life holds not the gods alone … all is there, even God’s opposites.” She sees the worst possibilities of vital activity when man falls prey to the influences and presences of the lower vital energies of the creation. These are carried by vital beings and vital forces that man harbors within him. “But there is a guardian power, there are Hands that save, calm eyes divine regard the human scene.”
