THE GREAT YOGI – KING ASWAPATI
Sri Aurobindo has introduced us to Princess Savitri. Now he tells us about Savitri’s father, King Aswapati, who is a Yogi-Avatar. We saw what a great being Savitri is. Her father is also a great being. Her father’s aspirations and his visions of a greater future and a greater humanity brought her birth. Just as Savitri took human birth to save mankind from darkness and ignorance by conquering Almighty Death, Aswapati took birth to be the first mortal to develop into a being who is completely free from all the darkness and ignorance of unconsciousness, and to be fully conscious of his Immortal self. A power was in him from the Unknowable. Because of his yoga practice, his days were a long growth to the Supreme.
