Synthesis of Yoga

The Synthesis of Yoga is the principal work of Sri Aurobindo explaining his method of Integral Yoga. In this volume he renders its essence comprehensible and illuminating.

This reading is the third portion of Chapter 24 The Supramental Sense, page 871.

There are immense ranges of which we could be aware if we opened the doors of our inner being. Ranges already in action, known to a subliminal self in us and, much of our surface consciousness is directly projected from them. Without our knowing, our subjective experience of things is influenced. … The supermind in its descent into the physical being awakens the consciousness; then we no longer live in the physical body alone … the supermind takes up the vital consciousness and transforms it by revealing the life-force here as the very power of the spirit. … the complete power and truth can only come by the opening of the supermind… The range of the psychic consciousness and its experiences is almost illimitable; the variety and complexity of its phenomena almost infinite.
