Synthesis of Yoga

The Synthesis of Yoga is the principal work of Sri Aurobindo explaining his method of Integral Yoga. In this volume he renders its essence comprehensible and illuminating.

This reading is of the second portion of Chapter 25,Towards the Supramental Time Vision, page 889.

If we could be aware of all the present, all the action of the physical, vital, mental energies at work in the moment, it is conceivable that that we would be able to proceed from present to past and future knowledge … man is not content with living only in the present; he is moved to look before and after … mind and life in each moment carry a complex of forces … even if we could disengage these we should still be baffled by all the concealed yet potent contributory causes … it is not practicable for our limited intelligence to calculate accurately from precise cause to precise effect … all things of the secret universal mind are represented by images … visual, auditory … development of the psychic senses makes it possible … the accuracy depends on its being confined to a statement of the thing seen; to infer, interpret, go beyond the visual knowledge may lead to much error unless there is at the same time a strong, fine intuition, subtle and pure … .
