Synthesis of Yoga

Resuming on page 361 the second half of Chapter IX The Release of the Ego in Part Two The Yoga of Integral Knowledge.

Sri Aurobindo stresses that nothing half-way, attractive, exclusive or high-pinnacled is to be sought by the seeker of knowledge of an integral Yoga. He must continuously soar to the utmost height, for it is the absolute union of the soul with the Transcendent that is the goal.

In the path of Knowledge an uncompromising abolition of the ego-sense, at its very source, must be done; one may attempt this abolition by a constant fixing of one’s thought on the One and Infinite in itself, or everywhere. If done persistently, in the end this changes one’s mental outlook not only on oneself, but on the whole world. Result: a kind of mental realization … which deepens eventually into spiritual experience … realization in the substance of our being.
