Synthesis of Yoga

The Synthesis of Yoga, Sri Aurobindo’s principal work on yoga which examines the traditional systems of yoga while explaining his own system of Integral Yoga.

This reading continues in Part Two the Yoga of Integral Knowledge, second half of Chapter 22 Vijnana or Gnosis, page 480.

” … the mental reason proceeds from ignorance to truth, but the gnosis has in itself the direct contact, immediate vision, easy and constant possession of the truth and has no need of seeking or any kind of procedure. … the truth of the gnosis is free from doubt, self-evident, self-existent … absolute. The gnosis does not seek, it possesses … reveals, illumines … while the reason proceeds from moment to moment … loses and acquires … again loses … again acquires … the gnosis dominates time in a one view and perpetual power and links past, present and future … the soul dwelling in the Supreme and one with it, – the infinite power and truth of the Divine is the fundamental experience of the mental being transformed and fulfilled and sublimated in the perfection of the gnosis.”
