Jazz enseble at Kalabhumi

Kalabhumi Goes Live housed jazz resident musicians Matthew (saxophone), Shanks (guitar and trumpet), Dhani (guitar) who kicked off the event with enchanting instrumental jazz own compositions and renditions of famous tunes. Suresh (drums), Rolf (bass) and Shakti (piano) joined them to stage a big band performing memorable jazz classics like “A Night in Tunisia”. Improvisation ruled the scene as jazz artists fired blue notes out of their instruments. Audience also had the pleasure to see Marlenka join the band for a lovely tune which she sang in full swing!

Divij band at Kalabhumi

The second act of the night starred singer Divij, hailing from Jaipur Rajastan and classically trained in vocals, playing western tunes accompanied by Ray (bass), Saga (drums) and Edo (electric guitar). The band performed 5 songs covering pop, folk, funk and rock-blues. Parnika and Guendaline joined the band and offered a great backup singing to 2015 hit parade track “Uptown Funk”. Blues rendition of “Unchain My Heart” spiked with rock grooves delivering an energetic finale to its crowed.
