Hunger Strike Against Bullying

Today’s news features an excerpt of the interview with Jan about his hunger strike to stand up to the bullying in Auroville. He began the hunger strike in direct response to the issue that happened at Svaram last week. In other news, there is currently a cultural show at the Tamil Heritage Center each evening from 4 to 6:30pm. Savitri and Out of Station

Today, and this weekend the city is full of talks, theater plays, concert, workshops…Today we can start with Sustainability Seminar at Last School Campus where Kathy and Bhavana will be talking about Social Sutainability – Auroville and the Villages or we can listen to an interesting presentation at Town Hall by Patrice Meyniel about Vanilla – a fascinating productive orchid. At Udavi school tomorrow morning at 10.30 AV theater group with Udavi School children will give a play “Savitri – a soul for any age”, directed by Jill. In the evening at Visitor Center Genius Incorporated Presents OUT OF STATION. And for the music lovers- on Sunday 17th of October at Bharat Nivas Auditorium Convergence Concert Indian Classical and Candaian Jazz musisicans.

A place to live

On the news today we bring a very interesting talk with Dalya, from the housing group. Dalya is in charge of helping the people that wants to join Auroville and the newcomers that are already here to find a nice place to live and start their experience in the city. In a very honest talk, she shares with us her challenges and ideas on this very important issue that is housing. We also have some announcement on SAIIER transport service and the Ayuthapuja Holiday. In the educational field, there is Sustainability Seminar Series: Local Solutions to Global Challenges and weekly literary lecture on ‘Manimegalai’. Yoga Nidra is starting again today and, if you want some trees, we have a very good offer from College GH!

Your own grown food

Tuesday, 12th of October and in news we feature an excerpt of interview with Khaled form Solitude Farm, which offers many ways of interactions between them and Aurovillians beside growing crops, vegetables and fruits on a natural way. On Saturdays they offers tours to anybody who would be interested to grown his/hers own permaculture garden in order to supply the household with fresh organic vegetables with not so much work and hassle as usual gardening requires. Tonight the European classical music lovers can treat themselves with German movie at Cinema Pradiso Mozart The Magic Flute, and tomorrow at same place we can see a documentary about victims and their pets who suffered at the time of the hurricane Katrina in USA.

Entry Service Insights

Ross of the Entry Service is featured in today’s news in an excerpt from a presentation he made last Saturday, offering insights on what the work is in serving in this crucial group. Also in the news there’s an announcement about the upcoming data-collection to begin in the work of updating the records of Aurovilians, a census in fact. Also information from the Auroville Forest Group on the planting of TDEF (Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest) as they planted 18,000 seedlings, restoring the habitat ,waging the good battle against unconscious tree cutting.

Climate Change Action

Featured in today’s news is an interview with Lisbeth, Environmental Science teacher in the Auroville schools; Lisbeth speaks about the significance of Sunday’s date10-10-10, about the significance of the number 350, about actions taking place to impact climate change. Also in the news are announcements on World Food Day coming next week with its theme of ‘Anna-Dana’ which means giving food to the hungry. Also a unique idea about coffee; it seems it can be a medium for creating art as well as the universally popular beverage.

Yatra film and Baul songs

Thursday, 7th of October, and Yatra Arts Foundation will release their latest short film NAALAIYA OLYMPIAN (The Future Olympian) on Saturday at Alliance Francaisein Pondicherry. The film was directed by Srini and produced by Manickam&Srini at Yatra Multimedia. On Saturday we can enjoy at the concert at SAWCHU of Parvathy Baul, a well known in her masterful solo rendering in the oldest style of Baul song and dance. Tonight we can see a movie El Prado de Las Estrellas at Cinema Paradiso, and tomorrow at 7pm at Eco Film at Saddhana Forest a documentary Galapagos Islands that changed the world.

Music and Life

Today’s News is full of energy. Our 7 years old artist Keshav, bring us a beautiful vibe with his Tabla and, together with Nadaka and Gopika, touch our hearth. His participation on the opening of the Commonwealth Games is part of a journey that has started really early. Gopika shares with us some anecdotes, his love and compromise with sounds and rhythms. Creative, smart and very sweet an artist this is what this interesting time with him brought me. We also announce a very interesting talk with Georges Van Vrekhem, a well-known author and exponent on Integral Yoga, that, tomorrow at the Town Hall from 17h30 to 18h30, will talk about: What did Arjuna see: The Dark Side of the Force”.

It`s All Miraculous
