"Freedom" of Bobi Wine

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (born 12 February 1982), also known as Bobi Wine, is a Ugandan politician, businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, musician and actor, better known by the stage name Bobi Wine. As of 11 July 2017, he serves as the member of parliament representing Kyaddondo East constituency in Wakiso District, in Uganda’s Central Region.

Ugandan musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has urged East African activists not to be intimidated by a recent Internet crackdown by the governments of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Bobi Wine told Music In Africa that political leaders in East Africa wanted to curb freedom of expression in order to avoid criticism.

“Information on social media spreads so fast and the government is scared,” he said. “The public, especially the youth, have the confidence to call out bad leadership. In Uganda, social media has provided a platform for musician-activists to share music that has been banned due to their political nature.”

He was arrested on 14th of August . International community, fellow musicians in diaspora singed petition, organized concerts to support release of Bobi Wine.
Uganda’s Gulu High Court has granted bail to Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and 12 others who are facing treason charges few days back, and yet when he was about to leave the country, he was denied of exit.
After all tribulations, Bobi finally has made it to USA two days back, and since the stories of bad treatment in Ugandan jail are coming up.
