Music with Marlenka No.3

Today’s musical selections, largely classical and traditional, are
recorded from our studio in Auroville and interspersed with some pithy
quotes from Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

Auroville wants to be the first realisation of human unity, based on the
teachings of Sri Aurobindo, where men of all countries would be at home.
(Mother)

Starting with Summa for Strings, a purely spiritual piece composed by
Estonian master Arvo Part performed by the Bournemouth Sinfonietta under
the direction of Richard Studt.

To be practical, you must first have a very clear vision of your goal,
of where you are going. There is a long way to go between what we are
and what must be. And for that we must be very flexible, never losing
sight of the goal but knowing that we cannot reach it at one bound and
that we must find the way. Well, that is much more difficult, even more
difficult than to make the inner discovery.

Here is a piece by Russian composer Alexander Borodin: Scherzo in A-Flat
Major. His passionate music is noted for its strong lyricism and rich
harmonies, exuding an undeniable Russian flavor.

…..we are starting form the present state of humanity. So you must face
all the difficulties, you must find the solution. …
Now listen to a composition by Led Zeppelin played by the exquisite
Yamato String Quartet and arranged by Kazuaki Kondo .

Good will, sincerity and discipline are indispensable qualities for
those who want to be Aurovilian.
Here is the Berlin Philharmonic with 12 cellos: Bachianas Brasileiras
No. 1 Introduction, composed by Heitor Villa-Lobos.

We conclude the music for today with the traditional Bucarest played by
Opa Tsupa: violin, guitars, double bass and bouzouki.
