Mother's Q & A – 25/7/56

Mother’s Questions And Answers, July 25, 1956

Mother speaks about the three things we need to do to make our physical acts of worship into living spiritual experience. She also describes the right way to listen to spiritual teaching and how to have a spiritual experience. Then she tells the students how necessary it is that they make the effort not to fall back into the old ways of the outside world if they want to profit from their stay in the Ashram, because they are in a place where work is being done to bring something new into the world. The original French recording of Mother’s class will play after the English reading.

Savitri, B. III, C. I

Savitri, Book III, The Book Of The Divine Mother, Canto I, The Pursuit Of The Unknowable

The Great Yogi-King reached the top of all that can be known, and finds it is not enough. Now he must pursue the Unknowable, He must have the realization of the infinite, eternal, Supreme Master of Creation along with the realization of the Divine Mother. The king reaches a height where he must make a tremendous choice; “All he had been and all towards which he grew must now be left behind or else transform into a self of That which has no name….The separate self must melt or be reborn into a Truth beyond the mind’s apeal”. Then the yogi-king can realize the One by whom all live, who lives by none.

Mother's Q & A – 18/7/56, Part 2

Mother’s Questions And Answers, July 18, 1956

Mother gives advice on what we can do to be able to meditate and pray for long periods of time. Then she speaks about people who choose to be an enemy of the Divine. She explains the reality of what it is that a person thinks is his enemy when he believes himself to be an enemy of the Divine. Then she continues explaining about what would happen if the whole universe identified perfectly and completely with the Divine. She explains why the Divine created His manifested universe to be a progressive universe and what it means for us to think of the universe as a progressive manifestation instead of a static perfection. The original French recording of Mother’s class will play after the English translation.

Savitri, B. II, C. XV

Savitri, Book II, The Book Of The Traveller Of The Worlds, Canto XV, The Kingdoms Of The Greater Knowledge

King Aswapathy awakens in the colorless purity of his own soul. All once perceived and lived was far away. He had risen out of the sphere of Mind and he saw the undivided splendor of the Spirit in its complete unity of all things. This canto describes the overmind consciousness and Sri Aurobindo writes that the king scanned the secrets of the overmind. King Aswapathy’s finite parts approached their absolutes, his actions framed the movements of the Gods, his will took up the reigns of cosmic Force.

Mother's Q&A – 18/7/56, Part 1

Mother’s Questions And Answers, 18 July, 1956, Part 1

Mother says Krishna, the the Divine flute player, is the supreme power of attraction of the immanent and universal Divine, who is all beauty, and Radha, who responds to the call of the Flute player is our individual soul, our psychic being. She explains that when we are fully responsive to the Divine we are in a state of consciousness which is a protection and a help. She explains why the Supreme becomes the manifested universe.

Savitri, B. II, C. XIV

Savitri, Book II, The Book Of The Traveller Of The Worlds, Canto XIV, The World Soul

The great Yogi-King is called by a mysterious sound which is all sounds in turn and yet the same, and he enters a mystic passage to the deep heart of the world. There, where all is soul, he finds the silent soul of all the world, and he sees the fashioning chamber of the worlds where souls return to rest between births. Along a road of pure interior light his soul passes on towards the end which ever begins again. There he sees, for the first time in his long, long journey, the Divine Mother.

The Universal Mother

Acceptance, Surrender, the Sunlit Path.

The Auroville Charter

Auroville was born on 28 February 1968. Its founder, the Mother, created the Auroville Charter consisting of four main ideas which underpinning her vision for Auroville. When Auroville came into being, All India Radio (AIR) broadcast the Charter, live, in 16 languages. Aurovilians apply the ideas of the Auroville Charter in their daily life, in policy-development, and decisions, big and small. The Charter thus forms an omnipresent referent that silently guides the people who choose to live and work for Auroville.

The Auroville Charter

Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But, to live in Auroville, one must be a willing servitor of the divine consciousness.
Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towards future
realisations.
Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual human unity.

During the Auroville inauguration in 1968, youth from 124 different nations and 23 Indian states, deposited a handful of their native soil into the Urn, a marble clad structure in the form of a symbolic lotus bud, located in the centre of the Amphitheatre (see photo). The Auroville Charter – handwritten in French by the Mother – rests along with this soil, sealed in the Urn, as a powerful message and promise.
