"Vacilando Con Ayahuasca"
We are sharing the folk feeling of the Peruvian Jungle and get this sound known with “Vacilando Con Ayahuasca” by Juaneco Y Su Combo. Chicha or Psychedelic Cumbia was created by Juaneco Y su Combo , a band from Pucalpa, Peru, as one of the most innovative Peruvian Cumbia bands in the 70’s and a pioneer in the jungle Cumbia genre.
With a sound that can be defined as tropical psychedelia, Juaneco and his Combo found the Peruvian Amazon Cumbia, whose highest peak coincides with a stage of economic prosperity in the jungle thanks to the oil boom; and with a revaluation and regional pride of an area that always felt marginalized and forgotten and that thanks to this authentic and own musical style celebrate and startle their jungle identity.
At the beginning of the 60s, Juan Wong Paredes founded the group in Pucallpa, with the initial name of Juaneco and his Conjunto. His son, Juan Wong Popolizio (1966), joins the band with the accordion, giving it a different sound than the one he had until then. But the father withdrew from the group (1969) and left it in the hands of his son who signed Noe Fachín, an excellent guitarist who worked as a teacher in a public school and helped himself financially accompanying Creole music. It is with Noe Fachín “El Brujo” that the group achieved its characteristic sound and achieved surprising success in the region (2 gold discs), managing to cross the Peruvian Amazonian borders (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil).
Ayahuasca is a jungle root with which an ancestral hallucinogenic drink is prepared that is currently famous in the world.
