Water Crisis

Few days back working groups announced the water crisis, and pleaded the community to be careful in usage of our water. This morning we hosted Tom and Ing-Marie from Water group with updates, and currents situation on water .
Tom in details explains where do we get our water from, and what would be the steps in extreme situation or crisis, in which we are headed if there would be no rainfall in near future. Ing-Maries shares some tips on how to save water, with emphasis that those, and more, are available on the web page of Water Group.
The group sees future of our water in rain harvesting.
Still, situation is severe, and it will take an awareness, and committed acts of each of us to face water crisis.

Stories of Forest

Striking to most of the visitors of Auroville are constant chirping of birds and indigenous evergreen tropical dry forest or lots of trees …
Birds wake up in early morning hours before dawn, and perky conversations or monologues are going on all day long.
Each morning starts with another story of a day ahead.
Human ears selectively choose what to hear , but microphone hears everything. It does notice distant temple music, bikes and constant wind of the area.

Our Water, Our Life

From Water Group Ing-Marie has visited us in the studio, and we talked on few different topics revolving around the ground necessity of our life – WATER.
Since we do live in a city with water sensitivity, how do we perceive it as a community?
Current Water Group started in 2015 (not the first, and most likely not the last) as an advisory body to TDC, consisting of members of different walks of life. They are trying to put together an integrated water management for the city. They are trying to raise the awareness on water sensitivity of the ground reality in our city. In whole this process they would like community to be deeply involved, they would like to increase the water “literacy”, they are trying to put up an interactive web page….
As one of the recent attempts to reach out to each member of the community is a call for photo contest with – What could depict the essence of Auroville Water? whereby any format or size …. are welcomed, and the author of winning photo will be fully credited for it. Deadline 15th of March.

10th Auroville Marathon for Land

10th edition of Auroville Marathon – Run for the Joy of Runnig was about to end. Crowded with happy, yet tired faces of runners, loudspeakers heard from far announcing the arriving runners….
In between we caught Ananad, one of the core organizers who shared with us some facts and figures – this year was around 400 to 500 more runners than previous year, 3150 registered, and 2800 bibs were picked up; from Auroville 52, and from bioregion 250 runners participated; apart from 20 members of core organizing team also 500 people volunteer for different tasks needed to be look up if marathon should be successful. As Annand mentioned since 3rd Auroville Marathon 5000 to 6000 breakfasts are prepared every year for that occasion .
Design – logo for the T-shirt this year was designed by an Auroville student, and T-shirts are in white, and blue, with the Mother symbol, representing different tasks of volunteers for the marathon.
Out of almost a quarter of Auroville population who volunteered Kalsang shared some impressions, emphasizing that is always a privilege to volunteer at the occasion. Kalsang this year had a group of boys from TCV school who are currently in Auroville as exchange students, and they also shared some impressions.
On the way out, toward Visitor’s Centre three participants share their thoughts on Auroville Marathon, mostly stating that is fresh, and well maintained marathon.

Novelty to this year marathon is the point, that it falls in the month of raising funds to purchase land, which still does not belong to Auroville.

Nalaikki Fair – Can of Worms

TLC offered, as usual, a theater play, humorous twist about the latest Fertile Forest chaos – Can of Worms. And as usual, the play was a great success with abundant laughter of the audience.
The whole Nalaikki Fair, a community traditional celebration of Christmas, was a huge work of many – from YC staff, volunteers (different ways), musicians, performers, cooks, …. Johnny’s tea stall … and of course the excellent MC Jesse and Sushan
and surely without a proper sound of Matthia we would not be able to hear much.

Land Purchase Situation

Sigrid, gave a very thought provoking presentation on situation of lands within the Auroville masterplan. As part of the presentation were 3 films, which give details about current and past circumstances regarding land. In one of the films, pioneers of Aurovillians are seen sharing their views and actual circumstance of lands when Auroville was getting ready to begin. The Crust of the presentation was to install a sense of urgency as mentioned, around 100 new private developments have emerged in past few years. These private developments not only plan to cash in on the popularity and good will of the community but also pose as an imminent threat to the lifestyle and basic functioning of Auroville at large. This presentation is an attempt to reach out to the world and stress upon all existing relations of goodwill with Auroville. The time to step up and act is now, what is slowly turning into a crisis can be avoided only if the entire community can come together and put forth an ingenious plan of action. Land will play a decisive role in manifesting the ideal Auroville we all dream of. With Sri Aurobindho and mother looking upon us, we must act diligently.

“Home” band Emergence has brought last night at Solitde Farm joy to friends, family and fans. Emergence, an acoustic indo-pop band with electric stage presence is consisting of Krishna Mckenzie on guitar and lead vocals, Mishko M’ba on bass, Karthik Iyer on violin and vocals and Soundar Rajan on drums and percussion.
Mostly known songs from their repertoire, written by band members, and of course life in Auroville brought smiles and memories on the faces of patrons. Besides all, the band’s music does spread the spirit and message of Japanese Zen master and farmer Masanobu Fukuoka, natural farming, as well the importance of local, seasonal food for our health; and not to mention the importance for every community to celebrate together.

Annapurna Farm newsletter dec2016

The integral Yoga is so called because it aims at a harmonised totality of spiritual realisation and experience. Its aim is integral experience of the Divine Reality, what the Gita describes in the words samagrammam, “the whole Me” of the Divine Being. Its method is an integral opening of the whole consciousness, mind, heart, life, will, body to that Reality, to the Divine Existence, Consciousness, Beatitude, to its being and its integral transformation of the whole nature.
