Art for Land – Flow of Donations

In the care for land Unity Pavilion joined the action Acres for Auroville (A4A) with unique way – Art for Land, by which they connect all good wishers also with artist, thus creating a flow of donation. Here the generosity is a gesture with noble action, as Devasmita mentions in between.
Team of Acres for Auroville(A4A), and Green Acres with Mandakini, Aryadeep and Sigrid in care to secure the master plan, as envisioned by The Mother, try to raise  funds to buy missing plots.
This year Art for Land will be inaugurated on 1st of January 2018 at 4pm at Unity Pavilion, with accompanied music. Exhibition   will be on display until 15th  of February . This year there wont be an auction but just a display of already collected over 300 art works from painting, photography, sculptures and pottery.
With this action the Unity Pavilion joins the events celebrating not only the 50th anniversary of Auroville, but also plea for  Gratitude which we all feel for the land,  that gives space to uniqueness of Auroville. As Jaya says,  they still hope that to celebrate the 50th, each account in Auroville, either be personal or other,  would join the celebrations by monthly recurring small or big amount toward purchasing missing plots of the land for the Master Plan.

Presentation on Green Belt Development

12 students from Queens University, Canada, along with their professor presented “Growth Management Framework for Settlements in Auroville Green Belt”. The group was invited by Auroville Integral Sustainability Institute, and that kind of exchange happened for the fourth time.

This work offering, done in collaboration with many diverse stake holders in Auroville and around, is part of a learning exchange between Auroville and the post graduate planning students on a topic of critical importance to Auroville.

It was followed by a Q&A where important issues were addressed, helping to clarify any miscommunication and provide insight on how to further improve the situation.

Growth Management for Greenbelt

The Auroville Integral Sustainability Insitute for the 4th time invited group of post graduate students of planning from Queens University, Canada to be part of learning exchange between Auroville and them.
Anna Geladi, Phillip Pirell along with Lalait came to our studio to invite us to a presentation on Growth Management Framework for Settlement in Auroville Green Belt, which would take place on Friday 15th at 4.30pm at SAIIER Conference room.
Both Anna and Phillipe found out the particularities of the space, and complexity of given topic, which requires a bit different approach to other planning in the world. Yet, the group of 12 students with their professor, managed to focus on the topic of development in green belt, and came up with suggestion, which we would hear at the presentation.

“What is concentration?
It is to bring back all the scattered threads of consciousness to a single point, a single idea. Those who can attain perfect attention succeed in everything they undertake; they will always make a rapid progress. And this kind of concentration can be developed exactly like the muscles; one may follow different systems, different methods of training. One should not have a will which flickers out like a candle. The will, the concentration must be cultivated; it is a question of method, of regular exercise. If you will, you can. But the thought “What’s the use?” must not come in to weaken the will. The idea that one is born with a certain character and can do nothing about it is stupidity.”

The Early Days Of Patrick

Patrick recounts his youthful adventures of hitchhiking along with his friends from France to India and eventually to Auroville. He recalls what drove him to join Auroville, his early days in the ashram and how it has evolved into the place we know today. From being a coolie helping with the construction of the Matrimandir to being the pioneer for surfing in Auroville, Patrick’s days are enriched with interesting anecdotes and experiences. He also shares with us what it means for him to be a true Aurovilian, and which of The Mother’s teachings resonate with him the most. His story is told to the backdrop of the song ‘In My Life’ by The Beatles, a song about loving the memories created in places that have changed for better or for worse.

Monsoon Rains

Within NE Monsoon we have been blessed by 234,1 mm in Ocotober, and in November already by 152,2mm of rainfall, measured by Charlie in Aurogreen.

On Tuesday, 14th of November 4:30 pm at Unity Pavilion GM on Youth Link’s Hive& Pumphouse.

On Saturday 11th of November at 9am at Verite presentation of Holoenergetic from Dr Laskow with 3h introduction.

On Saturday 18th of November at 8pm at Pitanga – Cultural Centre Concert Tribute to Latin America.

In all is the one Self, the one Divine is all; all are in the Divine, all are the Divine and there is nothing else in the universe, — this thought or this faith is the whole background until it becomes the whole substance of the consciousness of the worker.

AV Safety and Security

Yesterday’s Information Meeting of Auroville Safety & Security Team at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of India was not well attended from the side of community.
Current AV Safety&Security Team , consisting of Samuel, Indra, Srijita, Mattheiu, Peter, Carlos, and the guards, which took its place about year and a half ago, shared intensively with us what are they going through, changes they have implemented in their work, obstacles, scope of work, and future plans. In all they also emphasized the importance of prevention rather than intervention. In this aspect collaboration with the community is of utmost importance. They would like to have wider interaction with the members of the community from sharing of information to the appropriate attitude of each of the member of the community. Just for an example – in past year 90% of thefts occurred due to the fact that people leaved the doors unlocked!
