The Words of The Mother, Vol. 14 A discovery in Morocco points to the
oldest Homosapiens fossils found so far. An international team of researchers uncovered 300,000 year-old fossil bones of Homo sapiens, a find tha is approximately 100,000 older than any other previously discovered Homosapiens fossils. The discovery, reported in two papers published June 8, 2017 in the journal Nature (here and here), was made at Jebel Irhoud, Morocco.
The team noted that the fossils reveal a complex evolutionary history of mankind that likely involved the entire African continent. Professor Jean-Jacques Hublin is a a palaeoanthropologist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany. Hublin said in a statement:We used to think that there was a cradle of mankind 200,000 years ago in east Africa, but our new data reveal that Homo sapiens spread across the entire African continent around 300,000 years ago.

A Review of 'In An Antique Land'

In this segment, I review ‘In An Antique Land’ written by Amitav Ghosh in 1992. The book follows two main narratives, the first is the anthropological account of Ghosh’s time in Egyptian villages in the present and the other is the life of a trader named Abraham Ben Yiju in the past. As an Indian anthropology student, this book was immediately fascinating to me because it deals with the dilemma of studying a subject with a dark colonial past as a former colonial subject. Furthermore, the book is ambitious in it’s desire to recreate the past not defined by colonial conquering but one of peaceful cultural and material exchange between two countries (Egypt and India).

The Fall of A Rebel Angel

On December 3, 1990, Enigma released its debut album “MCMXC a.D.”. It was the beginning of an exceptional global success story.
With eighth album released Enigma has created many wonderful different musical stories.
Award-winning German music project Enigma returns with its long-awaited eighth full-length album where Michael Cretu re-connects with the bold, pioneering musical sound-world and returns with his finest hour yet, The Fall Of A Rebel Angel.
Eight. At this age Michael Cretu was already sitting in the cockpit of a spaceship, floating through his imaginary universe. These days he may no longer be a young boy, but he still travels through space. All he needs to navigate his spaceship through the universe is 88 keys – the same 88 keys that inspired him as a child in Bucharest. Whilst playing his piano he always imagined himself traveling through space and musical talent soon matched his limitless imagination.
There is no other music project comparable to Enigma. It defies categorization. New Age, Electronic, Sound Collage, Ambient Rock Symphony, Pop Avant-garde? None of these labels fit and still all of them do. Each beat shows the unmistakable signature of an artist who refuses to be pigeonholed.

All our nature must make an integral surrender, it must offer itself in every part and every movement to that which seems to the unregeneratedsense-mind so much less real than the material world and its objects.
