GM – Pump house and Youth Hive

On the 13th November 2017 a general meeting was held at the Unity Pavillion to try to resolve the issue between The Pump House community, The Youth Hive Project and Poppo.
The feeling from the meeting was the need in AV for the individual to get out of the way for the greater good, this is extremely important on an inner level too, so the Impersonal Consciousness can manifest into the physical realm, being intensely radiated through all sincere participants here in this divine experiment called Auroville.

New Look of the Studio by Shipra

Gentle, yet energetic Shipra Raman has joined us as a volunteer, not as a content producer or journalist but as an architect. Hailing from Lucknow, and currently residing in New Delhi, in close proximity of Sri Aurobindo ashram, Shipra was looking for opportunity to come to Auroville, and experience it on her own skin, and contribute with her skills.
For us – AurovilleRadio she designed a new, fresh, and more people (and sound), friendly environment of our recording studio in Town Hall.

Exploring Prosperity Gathering

Since a few months a movement has started in Auroville, a movement of reasoning and result.
A few community members have come together and are backing an initiative by the name of ‘Exploring Prosperity’. The group made an introduction in one of the ‘CAT’ meeting. They shared an open letter which spoke of their agenda of work. They invited other community members to join this initiative. There was a signature campaign. On 17th Oct they organized a 1st gathering of all the people wishing to join this collective work. More than 40 people attended the meeting and selected an area of work to participate. The process was inclusive and involving, here the participants in groups shared what is their definition for Auroville Prosperity and then worked on pointing out what are the real obstacles in achieving this kind of prosperity.
the meeting ended with, group members self organizing their next steps and the path they wish to take as a collective to explore solution to all the obstacles realized during this exercise.
The Team is committed to re-allign Auroville to its original ideal and vision, and not focus too much on finding faults but investing energy in finding solutions which can bring prosperity to Auroville.

FAMC quaterly presentation

As per the new mandate, the FAMC must take initiative to meet with the community every 3 months and make a presentation of situations. This is was the very first such a kind of presentation. The presentation was conducted by Angelo, Chandresh, Lyle, Shaoli, Ayesha, Yuval, Amy, Ulli, Prabhu and Bindu (was out of station).
The new FAMC team declared to the community what has been its objective for the past few months since it has taken charge.
1. Increase transparency and accountability,
2. Increase accessibility to DATA related to assets and finances,
3. To improve the efficiency in use of Collective wealth
4. To review and improve the maintenance system

The new mandate given to the FAMC seems like a challenging one to which the new team is working diligently towards, but has made a suggestion to create a transition period for new teams to come into work given them time to understand each other as a group and also the the work set upon them this will save the team and the community huge amount of time and energy.

50th – Who, What, Where, When

By 50th Auroville Anniversary Core Team (Fabienne, Chali, David, Fred, along with Milan, Pala, Claudine) the community was invited to a workshop about preparations for Auroville’s 50th anniversary…
The workshop (interactive session) was aiming to inform the community on where we are today and to explore the next steps … or what we can do together.
Team leaded us through where we are at this moment with the preparations according to various possibilities – depending to either grant from Governemnt of India will be given or not.
50 years of existence of intentional community is a remarkable mark. Some members would prefer to celebrate it quietly, yet is pretty obvious that it will have quite an impact on life of the community, and surely cannot be ignored.
In second part of the event all were invited to explored possibilities how , and where one could actively participate.
Two years ago WC offered a theme for anniversary – Centering within , and during intensive participatory planning exercises theme evolved in vision:
to re-inspire our individual, collective aspiration in order to achieving of Auroville Charter and A Dream.

Green Acres

Sigrid is dedicated to raising funds to purchase land for green practices. The fund raising project is called Green Acres.
She briefly explains how the land prices within Auroville have increased over the past 10 years and developments within the area are on the increase. Already, various pieces of land within the Green Belt have been bought by outside parties. Further encroachment is very likely to happen where land has not yet been acquired by Auroville.
To help the fund-raising project we need to create public awareness of the importance and urgency of securing the land for Auroville; and we need to provide information of the good work done so far in the green belt area. The appeal is to all people of the world to help acquire land for this evolutionary project.
