(Photographer: Patrick)Auroville Integral Sustainability Institute invited, like last year, 8 post graduate planning students with their Professor from Queen's School of Urban & Regional Planning Canada. They presented their work on AV sustainability indicators yesterday night in MMC. They started some background preparation work in Canada itself and arrived in Auroville 2 Weeks ago for field visit and familiarization with Auroville context.They interacted with many resource persons to get an insight into diverse aspects of community life, issues and challenges. Dr. Christoph Woiwode  (Photographer: Giorgio)Last Saturday, on December 14th, Doctor Christoph Woiwode was invited by the Centre for International Research on Human Unity (CIRHU) and the German Pavilion, both in Auroville, to give a presentation. The talk was given in the SAIIER Conference room, Town Hall, and was preceded by the gifting of the Trialog Journal (June 2012) on Urban Development and Spirituality to Auroville architects. Dr. Woiwode is a German research scholar from the visiting Faculty at the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Read more

In more than three hours we had a chance to listen to five presentations, all related to TDC development studies and work in progress - interesting one on water conservation; about land use, mapping of the present state of the area; on institute of sustainable habitat; plan for development of Residential Zone 1 and 2. Nicholas and Hillary (Photographer: Tatjana)Hillary and Nicholas, two of ten visiting Urban Planning graduate students from Queen's University, Toronto, Canada talk on their project: "International Studio". Within a short two weeks they will try to gather as much input as they can, in order to create a proposal for public space implementation guidelines for the Crown Road. Today they will share with the community a workshop at 3:30pm at Afsaneh's Guesthouse; they hope for as much interaction as possible. On Thursday 19th at 5 pm they will present their proposal.

Luigi and B continue their series on "Bridging / Dissolving Polarities" with Elvira (RAS) and Toby (development for L'Avenir). Hear the realities of planning and implementing Auroville at this moment when a new energy is moving in the community for change. Elvira brings her extensive experience as a facilitator of the RAS and advocate for participatory development and transparency of the process. Dreamcatcher`s Revisited: Forum

With the threat of a cyclone looming, some dedicated Aurovilians met in a forum to dissolve polarities and revisit the spirit of the Dreamcatcher's work. David (Luminosity) was there to speak to the process of the Dreamcatchers and the essence of its success. Nevi, Agnes and Gopal came from Darkali. B, Luigi the hosts, extending this exercise to a bigger group. Some initial resistance captured the focus of the discussion to reflect on our reactions and general process in Auroville, moving toward utter honesty and transparency. Read more

Bridging the Polarities: Ecology

The How can we overcome inherited anthropocentrism in our relationship with nature as we develop "the city the earth needs"? This week's meeting with B and Luigi brought Rishi into the studio. Rishi, from the Youth Center, shared with us his concerns about the direction in which Auroville is heading and its relationship with the natural area which has grown over the past 40 years. We resolved the discussion acknowledging the climate of understanding which we had birthed and setting intention for dialogue to continue on this and other topics. Read more
