With Professor Ajay from Queens University for Urban and Regional Planning from Canada, and Lalit from Auroville Sustainability Insitute we talk about the projects that they were done by the students here in past few years –

Fashion, Road Safety Manual

On Saturday at 8pm at Le Zephry at Visitor’s Cemtre, International Zone we are invited to the screening of Lilith Fashion School Movie followed by interaction with the students at the amphitheater of the Visitor’s Centre.

The TDC} report from January to May 2015, which is a synopsis of key topics discussed in regular meetings.

{SAIIER printed the Road Safety Manual in 1,000 copies of a 36-page 2-colour Road Safety Manual, richly illustrated with over two-dozen cartoons by Charu. Although the aim of this manual has been to convey to our children the essential guidelines for staying alive on India’s roads, the manual and its contents are equally applicable to and therefore of potential value to all Auroville adults.

Keep yourself open to the Mother, remember her always and let her Force work in you, rejecting all other influences – that is the rule of yoga.

Our Food, Our Community?

We met Krishna this morning at Solitude kitchen, where manoges were already put on the shelves, and women planning the delicious lunch out of vegetables, grains and fruits picked up today form the farm. Krishna’s personal path, an evolution over past 21 years brought him to the point when he is trying actively connect all the members of community into food production on our lands. Initiative with name “Slow Food Movement” is for the people, to be proactive and interactive, shifting form individual to a collective level, each taking a part.

“…a Society that doesn’t know where its food comes from, it is a society without culture, and humanity without culture will die, perish…” *********************Permaculture is a branch of ecological design, ecological engineering, environmental design, construction and Integrated Water Resources Management that develops sustainable architecture, regenerative and self-maintained habitat and agricultural systems modeled from natural ecosystems.[1][2] The term permaculture (as a systematic method) was first coined by Australians Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in 1978. The word permaculture originally referred to “permanent agriculture” [3] but was expanded to stand also for “permanent culture,” as it was seen that social aspects were integral to a truly sustainable system as inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka’s natural farming philosophy.

“Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labor; and of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single product system.” – Bill Mollison

V&P no6 Planning

Values and Priorities meeting no.6 facilitated by Residents Assembly Service was set up for topic of planning, for all participants to discuss on near future since Auroville will celebrate its golden jubilee. How we want to proceed, and if there are any frictions in the community how to overcome them. Aim of this meeting was also to actively communicate with suggestions for the new L’AVenir d’Auroville/TDC 2012 2018 team. All agreed that we do not share, not communicate enough. Many in the community feel that we have gone astray from the path
